Courses at Mount Holyoke College Can Make this Summer Count
Newswise — Mount Holyoke College’s Professional and Graduate Education (PAGE) program offers dozens of summer course options to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as to anyone looking to enhance professional skills or for personal enrichment.
Students can earn more credits to graduate early, fill a course gap, work toward a double major, explore a new intellectual area, or reduce a course load later.
Courses are offered online and on the bucolic South Hadley, MA, campus during two five-week summer terms, May 27–July 2 and July 8–August 13.
Study On Campus: Options at MHC include Organic Chemistry, World Politics, The Modern Urban Novel, and The Changing Role of Educators. There are also opportunities to study a wide range of languages, including American Sign Language, Arabic, Italian, Korean, Persian, and Swahili.
Study Online: Earn credits from anywhere with online courses in Elementary Japanese, The Hunger Games: Young Adult Dystopia in Popular Culture, Chinese Hollywood through the Lens of Visual Literacy, and Social Psychology.
Professional Development: Skill-building courses include Big Data and Business Analytics, Motivation in Education, Speaking with Confidence, and a certificate program in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL).
Study Abroad: And there’s still time to sign up—if you act quickly—for two special travel-study programs. One takes Russian speakers to Kaliningrad, Russia, for six weeks (June 25–August 9) of language and cultural immersion, excursions, and internship opportunities. The other is based in South Africa and uses a community-based research learning approach. From July 4 to 30, students will study the relationships among education, social justice, human rights, and community development in South Africa.
