Babson senior Matt Miller won the John H. Muller Jr. Business Plan Prizes Competition for www.easydues.com. First runner-up Applico LLC, presented by junior Alex Moazed, provides smartphone users with functional mobile applications. Applico's NYC Transit mobile application gives users public transportation schedule information for the New York metropolitan area within just a few clicks, and no Internet connection is required. www.applicollc.com Alight Learning, second runner-up, is a software tool that stimulates personalized student learning in middle schools by integrating the most effective communication, collaboration, and holistic assessment tools. Alight hopes to be an engaging academic experience that encourages student discovery and enables the personalization of learning for all members of the learning community including students, teachers, and parents. Muller Jr. Business Plan Prizes Competition honors an undergraduate individual or team with $5,000 for developing the best business plan in an entrepreneurial venture, $2,500 to the first runner-up, and $1,000 to the second runner-up. Established through the generosity of former Babson president William F. Glavin, and his wife, Cecily M. Glavin, the Muller Prize honors the entrepreneurial accomplishments of John H. Muller Jr., founder and former chairman of General Housewares Corporation and chairman of the Babson College Board of Trustees from 1989 to 1997. Business plans are evaluated by alumni volunteers from throughout the world, and then finalists make their presentations to an independent panel of judges.

The Babson College 2009 Business Plan Competitions were held during the school's "Celebrating Student Venturing" day. Babson founded the very first college business plan competition in 1984 and today awards are almost $100,000 in cash and services in kind.
