The sole beneficiary for the Golden South Classic is the Pediatric Sports Medicine Program at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Each year, more than 3.5 million children in the U.S. are treated for sports injuries. That number is especially high in Central Florida with a large portion of the population under the age of 18 and weather that is conducive to year-round sports. The event helps to provide funding for the best treatment, rehabilitation, education and prevention of injuries in young athletes.
