WASHINGTON, June 29 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following is a statement from House Democratic Leader Richard A. Gephardt on President Clinton's plan to modernize and strengthen Medicare:
"I applaud the President's proposal to modernize and extend the life of Medicare into the next century. These changes will help all seniors get the affordable and quality health care they deserve.
"President Clinton's initiative takes the necessary steps to increase the efficiency and stability of a program that millions of seniors depend on for their physical and financial well-being.
