Newswise — Chicago, IL: The Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association has elected David DeRemer, Pharm D, BCOP as a Board Member at large for the 2015-2016 term. Dr. DeRemer has been an active member of HOPA since 2006. During this time, he has served on the Recognition Committee and Research and Abstract Review Committee. Dr. DeRemer has been involved with conference events throughout his membership, including streamlining the poster presentation process through the creation of e-posters. He also presented at HOPA’s 9th Annual meeting for the BCOP Recertification series.
Dr. DeRemer is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Georgia (UGA) College of Pharmacy, as well as a Hematologic Malignancies/Bone Marrow Transplant Outpatient Clinical Specialist at the Georgia Regents University (GRU) Cancer Center. Dr. DeRemer established the first PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program at the Georgia Regents Medical Center where he now serves as the residency program director. In addition, Dr. DeRemer is actively involved with American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and the GRU Cancer Institutional Review Board.
Dr. DeRemer earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree form the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2002. He then completed both his Pharmacy Practice Residency and Oncology Pharmacy Residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, followed by a one-year fellowship under Dr. Val Adams.
HOPA is a nonprofit professional organization formed in 2004 to help oncology and hematology pharmacy practitioners and their associates provide the best possible cancer care. HOPA supports research, conducts educational conferences to advance knowledge, encourages professional development, and advocates for health policy issues that improve patient care. HOPA has more than 2,300 members and includes oncology pharmacists, as well as pharmacy interns, residents, technicians, researchers, and administrators specializing in hematology/oncology practice.
