News Advisory:

EVENT:
Panel discussion about the Environmental Protection Agency's "handcuffing" federal regulations on drinking water, including specific examples and a case history resulting from the recent release of "Blue Baby Syndrome" research by Alex Avery of Hudson Institute

BLUE BABY:
The study reveals that the once-believed link between high levels of nitrates in drinking water and the Blue Baby Syndrome does not exist. The unnecessary regulation of nitrates costs taxpayers in the United States and Europe millions of dollars each year. To support his argument, Avery's research demonstrates that the real causes of Blue Baby Syndrome are gastrointestinal disorders and bacterial and viral infections. In addition, there only have been two cases of Blue Baby Syndrome in the United States during the past 20 years -- both caused by gastrointestinal disturbances.
