Newswise — Florida State University's Institute on Napoleon and the French Revolution will host a public lecture next week by a renowned expert on military and diplomatic history. Jeremy Black, a professor of history at the University of Exeter in England, will speak on "The Struggle for Mastery in North America, 1700-1871." The free lecture will be held:

Professor Black is the author of 66 books, including "War and the World," "A History of the British Isles," "The Politics of James Bond," "Why Wars Happen" and "Altered States: America Since the Sixties." His latest book, "George III: America's Last King," will be published this fall. Black also is known as a dynamic speaker, having lectured widely throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Denmark and Norway.
