George Fuchs spent years caring for children in Bangladesh. With a team of researchers, he developed a new method for delivering care to children in both rural and urban areas of developing countries.
Inpatient hospital care is inaccessible for patients in many parts of the country, so Fuchs and his team developed a "day care" center, where parents drop off their children to receive treatment, then take them home at the end of the day.
The cost of providing care at the day care clinics is a fraction of that for inpatient hospitals, reducing the financial burden on families, governments and health care organizations.
