Dr. Katalin Karikó, an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine on Oct. 2 for her key discoveries that led to the development of the mRNA vaccines against COVID-19. The biochemist started her career at the Uniformed Services University.
