The guest speakers will include Michele Masucci, PhD, Vito M. Campese, MD, and Paul Tapino, MD. Dr.Masucci will speak about “Impacts of Developing Strategic Partnerships to Foster Industry Research at Universities”, Dr. Campese will speak about “Lifestyle and Blood Pressure in 2015”, and Dr. Tapino will present the award lecture titled “All About the Eyes”.
This year, the Giovan Giacomo Giordano NIAF Achievement Award for Ethics and Creativity in Medical Research is awarded to Dr. Paul Tapino, Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Director of the Ophthalmology Residency Program at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania, is a renowned and nationally recognized Clinician-Educator in Ophthalmology.
The award is an original design sculpted by the acclaimed Neapolitan artist, Lello Esposito. The award which will be presented to Dr. Tapino by his colleague Dr. Giacomina Massaro-Giordano and by Mrs. Delores Del Raso was established five years ago in honor of Dr. Antonio Giordano’s father, the late Professor Giovan Giacomo Giordano, renowned pathologist and former Chair of the department of Pathology at the NationalCancer Institute of Naples and professor at the Second University of Naples, who dedicated over sixty years of his life to the study of cancer and the role of environmental factors in the onset of this disease.
