Newswise — Today's college students are much more astute than their predecessors when it comes to food trends, variety and brands. That's why The University of Alabama's food service, Bama Dining, is making sure its students have access to nutritional information, both in person and online.

Beginning this fall, kiosks will be located near the entrances of each dining hall on the UA campus, so students can browse through menus and nutritional information before entering the facilities.

"As an institution of higher education, we are challenged to find creative ways to satisfy market-driven student preferences and lifestyles and also meet their nutritional needs," said Greta Davis, marketing manager for Bama Dining.

In addition to the kiosks, Bama Dining recently introduced Fresh & Healthy, an online nutrition site (http://www.campusdish.com/en-US/CSS/Alabama/Nutrition/NutritionHome.htm)

"It provides students with healthy menu suggestions and recipes, health and wellness resources, and healthy lifestyle and nutrition tips, such as how to incorporate whole grains into daily meals and simple steps to reduce calories," said Davis.
