Newswise — Nominations and applications are now being sought for a unique tenure track, dual faculty appointment in the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Nursing (SON) and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the School of Medicine (SOM).
The Stulman Professor will hold the Leonard and Helen R. Stulman Endowed Chair in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, a new professorship established through the commitment of $2 million to the School of Nursing from the Leonard and Helen R. Stulman Charitable Foundation.
According to Jacquelyn Campbell, PhD, RN, and Peter Rabins, MD, MPH, co-chairs of the Stulman Search Committee, the Stulman Professor will be "an exceptional scholar, researcher, and educator with expertise in serious mental illness." Dr. Campbell added that the committee is seeking "an accomplished nurse educator who can play a major role in increasing understanding of the biological, psychological, and social impact of debilitating mental illness and in attracting students and faculty to careers in mental health nursing."
Dr. Rabins noted that a key function of the professorship will be to provide academic leadership across the JHU medical institutions. "We see the Stulman professorship as a bridge across disciplines that will foster collaboration among faculty for research and patient care."
