Newswise — What happens when you fall into a black hole, the mysterious remnant of a dead star whose gravity is so strong that not even light can escape? According to Einstein's theory of general relativity, the fall would be uneventful, until at some point the force of gravity would rip you apart. But a new theory suggests a different fate - and if correct, could challenge our understanding of gravity and how the universe works. On Sept. 25, Noon-12:50 PDT, four theoretical physicists -- Raphael Bousso, Juan Maldacena, Joseph Polchinski and Leonard Susskind -- will join a special webcast by The Kavli Foundation to answer questions about the latest theories about what happens when matter falls into a black hole and how these ideas are prompting researchers to reconsider our understanding of gravity, including questions submitted by viewers.
