Long wait times for an appointment are the difference between life and death for people with an addiction. The need for immediate care was clear to ER doctors and addiction specialists, so they created a low-barrier clinic to provide same day or next day treatment to patients leaving the ER or being discharged from inpatient treatment for complications relating to opioid addiction.
Experts from the University of Kentucky First Bridge Clinic will be at the 2019 Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit discussing the challenges and successes of their first year.
