Newswise on Twitter

No, we’re not still tweeting what we had for breakfast.  Our social media strategy on Twitter is much more intelligent than that.

Newswise posts headlines and links to news releases throughout the day on the popular social media site, Twitter, and it’s mostly based on items of particular importance and interest.  Here’s a little bit about what we’re doing:

Editor’s Picks
Newswise staff stumbles across a particular interesting article, and we add it to the “NW Staff Picks” feed, and it gets tweeted with that label.  For example, an interesting research article with video from the Kennedy Krieger Institute about racial disparities in children with Autism.

Latest News
A continuous feed of the most recent news releases are updated throughout the day.  This includes releases from every section, Science, Medicine, Life, and Business news.

Most Popular
When a news release picks up steam, Newswise staff might assign it to the “most popular” feed and the headline and link will be tweeted as a featured link.  This may be the second or third time the release gets tweeted.

Channels
Newswise also tweets a number of releases each day based on our most popular channel topics, such as Economics, Cancer, and Politics.  News releases on these topics are posted in the appropriate Channel with the keyword as a hashtag.
