Newswise — ITHACA, N.Y. – Can something small change a culture? Or a nation? What if a small design is actually something really big?

The symposium, “Unpacking the Nano: The Price of the World’s Most Affordable Car,” explores many questions on March 10-11, 2011, on the Cornell University campus.

Arjun Appadurai, New York University professor of media, culture and communication, will be the keynote speaker on March 10 at Call Auditorium, Kennedy Hall, Cornell campus at 4 p.m.

After the keynote, Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Sons; David Skorton, Cornell University president; and Kent Kleinman, dean of Cornell’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning, will speak on panel to illuminate the complexity and potentially monumental influence of the Tata Nano automobile.

The symposium continues with breakout sessions on Friday, March 11 at Ives Hall on the Cornell campus. The sessions include the sessions: Nano Anatomy, The Landscapes of Mobility and Nano and Design Cultures.
