Newswise — The Genetics Society of America is pleased to announce the 2010 Yeast Genetics and Molecular Biology Meeting, July 27-August 1, 2010, at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada. This biennial meeting brings together investigators studying various aspects of eukaryotic biology in yeast. Program highlights include presentations by three Nobel Laureates and a Canadian astronaut who is also a Member of Parliament.
The 2010 Yeast Genetics and Molecular Biology Meeting is the most important scientific meeting for yeast biologists. Highlights include a symposium featuring Nobel Laureates (2001) Paul Nurse and Lee Hartwell , and Marc Garneau (Canadian astronaut and Member of Parliament), and a lecture by Nobel Laureate (2009) Jack Szostak. In addition, there will be a series of talks by this year’s distinguished group of award winners, special topic workshops, about 90 short talks selected from abstracts, and a banquet at the world renowned Museum of Anthropology.
The UBC campus and Vancouver provide a spectacular setting for this conference. The UBC campus is affordable and provides an opportunity for scientific discussion and interaction, and Vancouver is a dynamic, multicultural city set among majestic mountains, sparkling ocean, rainforests and foliage, making it one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
