Some of the nation’s top chefs will be turning out to help New York City College of Technology (City Tech) raise money for its hospitality management scholarship program on Tuesday, October 4, 6 p.m., in the College’s Janet Lefler Dining Room, 300 Jay Street, Downtown Brooklyn. The public is invited to this event, which is being chaired by Celebrity Chef and City Tech alumnus Michael Lomonaco. Among the star chefs, many of whom are City Tech alumni, contributing to the tasting menu, in addition to Lomonaco (Porter House New York), are Michael Romano, Union Square Café; Julian Niccolini, The Four Seasons Restaurant; Uwe Toedter, Faculty House, and president of Les Amis d'Escoffier Society of New York; Michael Ayoub, Fornino, The Art & Science of Pizza; Feliberto Estevez, Gracie Mansion; City Tech Professors Jean Claude and Louise Hoffman; Ebow Dadzie, New York Marriott Marquis; Joseph Fortunato, Extra Virgin Restaurant; Gilles A. Guillou, Club 101; Neil Kleinberg, Clinton St. Baking Co. & Restaurant; Anthony Smith, The Cosmopolitan Club; and Thalia Warner, Cakes by Thalia.
“This is a great way for the community to experience dishes prepared by some of the nation’s top chefs as well as support one of the College’s flagship programs,” says City Tech Director of Development Jewel Escobar. “Many of our students would not be able to attend City Tech and go on to contribute to the livelihood of the city without our financial support.”
Escobar added that in addition to the tasting part of the evening there will be a silent auction with some very attractive items, thanks to the College’s generous corporate sponsors and donors, including TD Bank, Disney, The Four Seasons Restaurant, Zagat Survey, Icydrink, Coca Cola, DeBragga & Spitler, and Pasternak Wine Imports. Auction items include roundtrip airfare to Orlando, FL, and Disney Park Hopper tickets; The Four Seasons Restaurant dinner for six; New York City weekends, including hotel accommodations, brunch and dinner for two; two tickets to a Broadway show of choice; lunches, brunches and dinners at top New York restaurants; electronics; and gift certificates.
New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of The City University of New York (CUNY) is the largest public college of technology in New York State. Located at 300 Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn, the College enrolls more than 16,000 students in 62 baccalaureate, associate and specialized certificate programs.
