Anna Maria College Launches School of BusinessNew COO Named Dean

Newswise — Paxton, MA (February 20, 2012) Anna Maria College announces that it is launching a new School of Business that is accepting students for fall 2012. Lloyd L. Hamm, Jr., who joined the AMC leadership team in January 2012 as the Chief Operating Officer, has been named Dean.

Mr. Hamm joins AMC after working for over 30 years in the banking industry. Most recently he served as the Chief Administrative Officer at Eastern Bank. Recognized as an expert in the banking payments, systems and technology field, Mr. Hamm led the consumer lending division of Eastern Bank through the recent economic downturn, generating the best results in the company’s history. His nearly 100 branch retail division was the recipient of the last two J. D. Power Top Banking Quality Awards for all of New England, and under his leadership, Eastern Bank has become the top Small Business Administration lender in New England.

“Lloyd’s vast background in banking, business management and leadership make him an excellent candidate to help launch the Anna Maria College School of Business,” states Jack P. Calareso, Ph.D., President of AMC. “His strong educational and professional backgrounds will enable him to infuse the College’s business program with new opportunities for students.”

Plans call for the Anna Maria College School of Business to offer students new majors, business concentrations and areas of study; use new technologies to provide students with global and international perspectives; add new full time faculty and make available faculty experts from around the country; and, expand student opportunities for internships and career placements. “Our current business faculty have laid the foundation for AMC to open a School of Business that will serve today’s students, who need to be able to work in a global marketplace,” comments Billye Auclair, Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Under Mr. Hamm’s leadership, we will be able to take our business program to the next level.”

“I am honored to have been asked to serve as the Dean of the new School of Business at Anna Maria,” shares Mr. Hamm. “With the assistance of advisory boards, corporate and community partnerships and innovative programs, I am committed to establishing a Business School that will prepare students to hit the ground running in their careers right after graduation.”

In addition to his undergraduate and graduate degrees from AMC, Mr. Hamm earned a C.S.S. in Administration and Management with a concentration in Quantitative Studies from the Harvard University Extension School and completed The General Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Mr. Hamm is also a member of a number of local and regional organizations and has served on numerous boards and committees including, the Massachusetts Bankers Association –Government Affairs Committee, Worcester Economics Club, Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, Junior Achievement of New England, and Anna Maria College. In addition, Mr. Hamm was selected as the National Chairman - American Banking Association - Task Force on Debit Card Fraud and served as the task force representative for US banks $3-10 billion on the ABA select committee on Debit Interchange Impacts. ###
