MEDIA ALERT: TUESDAY, JUNE 25 (9:00 a.m. PDT)

WHAT: The National Athletic Trainers’ Association Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine is hosting a virtual and in-person press briefing to release findings of a survey that evaluated adoption of NCAA legislation for delivery of care to student athletes. Speakers will also present plans to help institutions evaluate and transition to NCAA-legislated athlete-centered models. The NCAA-legislated athlete-centered model for student athletes is a model that ensures independent medical care by giving primary athletic health care providers – defined as team physicians and athletic trainers – the autonomous authority to make decisions related to the health and safety of athletes without the influences of the athletic department, including coaches and other personnel. The survey was distributed to 9,223 athletic trainers who identify as working in the collegiate setting with a response rate of 19.473%.
