Newswise — Baylor Scott & White Health has launched expanded digital care options via the MyBSWHealth app and online portal to provide support for children who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Digital at-home monitoring has been available for adults ages 18 and older since May.

Those with concerns about their risk of infection with COVID-19 can make use of Baylor Scott & White’s online screening questionnaire:

  • Online at com/COVID19
  • On the MyBSWHealth app, which can be downloaded by texting BETTER to 88408 or by visiting the App Store or Google Play.

The app, screening and at-home monitoring are open to all – users need not have been a patient of Baylor Scott & White prior to using this service, as a medical record is established once users begin the process.

Helping families navigate the uncertainties of the virus

“In the face of a pandemic, with many ambiguities surrounding nearly every aspect of life these days, Baylor Scott & White has expanded digital at-home care for patients affected by COVID-19 to offer greater support to families – both pediatric patients and their parents,” said Tiffany Berry, MD, a family medicine physician and chief medical officer of Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance. “As part of our commitment to the communities we serve, we created a digital at-home support option for adults, which has so far supported more than 15,000 Texans who were treating mild COVID-19 illness at home. With this expansion, we seek to give our patient families the tools they need to feel supported through the months to come.”

Using Baylor Scott & White’s the MyBSWHealth app and online portal, families can receive quality care and support from a team of Baylor Scott & White clinicians via a mobile device or website. This gives parents and children who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 an “at their fingertips” supportive experience and extends care and monitoring for patients while they are isolating at home. At-home monitoring support includes:

  • Detailed quarantine instructions
  • Twice daily symptom checking
  • Dedicated care management
  • Telehealth visits

Launched in 2018, the MyBSWHealth app has emerged as a leading digital tool in Texas in the fight against COVID-19, providing nearly 265,000 digital screenings and more than 65,000 eVisits related to the virus. This process has allowed tens of thousands of Texans with mild symptoms to be evaluated outside of Baylor Scott & White clinics and emergency departments—further ensuring that hospitals are ready for those who need care most during this time. The app provides digital access to direct communication with Baylor Scott & White care teams, prescription management, appointment scheduling, virtual visits, and more.
