Newswise — CIMIT and A*STAR have announced the formation of a strategic alliance between the two organizations, a relationship that will open new doors of opportunity for collaboration between CIMIT consortium researchers and clinician, engineering and technology colleagues in Singapore.
“Patients are the real beneficiaries of this alliance,” CIMIT executive director, John A. Parrish said in making the announcement in Boston. “Through this border-crossing multidisciplinary research and organizational collaboration, we have a unique opportunity to create and accelerate the adoption of novel technologies into clinical care.”
In forming this alliance with CIMIT, A*STAR seeks to enhance its long-term goal of building a vibrant MedTech innovation ecosystem in Singapore. For the CIMIT community, the collaboration adds important engineering and technology implementation capacity and expertise to the growing portfolio of resources available for Boston-based, clinically-focused innovators.
Details of the CollaborationUnder the Memorandum of Understanding, A*STAR and CIMIT will work together to:
• Enable A*STAR to adopt CIMIT best practices in multidisciplinary translational research in medical device and clinical technology system applications
• Provide an opportunity to accelerate the technology implementation process for clinically-vetted, CIMIT-supported “projects in the pipeline” by leveraging Singapore-based resources
• Initiate Joint Grant Calls to encourage the formation of cross-continent collaborations of clinicians and engineers and to enhance capabilities, expertise and IP in MedTech innovations
A*Star and CIMIT will roll out these activities during 2010 and the relationship is expected to span several years.
