Gokul Iyer leads a team of scientists who analyze national climate pledges to see whether they’re sufficient to meet the world’s warming/emissions goals. Dr. Iyer's team uses and manages one of the key models, GCAM, used by the IPCC. In recent work, his team outlined three largescale investments that could make the biggest difference in the global project of slowing warming. In past work, they’ve shown that the world’s climate pledges are still insufficient (we will overshoot 1.5 degrees). Dr. Iyer is available to discuss what can be done to slow warming in the context of COP28.
