Newswise — Doug White, who has guided development and fundraising efforts for large health care institutions and major universities, today was named Vice President of Institutional Advancement at UNT Health Science Center and the Executive Director of the UNTHSC Foundation.
White will direct a comprehensive philanthropic program to support UNT Health Science Center’s educational, clinical and research efforts.
For the past 13 years, White has held leadership roles at the Texas Health Harris Methodist Foundation in Fort Worth, serving the last nine as President.
White said he is delighted to move into a leadership role at an institution so critical to the future of health care in the North Texas region.
“I can’t imagine a more exciting time to join the UNT Health Science Center team,” White said. “Progress and change are in the air: a new round of national accolades for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, the launch of a new College of Pharmacy, new leadership under Dr. Michael Williams, and a host of programs that are bridging the gap between academic discovery and improved patient outcomes.”
Dr. Williams, President of UNTHSC, said White is the perfect choice to lead philanthropic outreach for the Center at this critical moment in its history.
“Doug has the depth and breadth of experience in the area of institutional advancement that we need,” Dr. Williams said. “He has a terrific reputation in the Fort Worth community, as well as the integrity and trust so critical to moving our fundraising efforts to the next level.”
While President of the Texas Health Harris Methodist Foundation, White provided strategic leadership for numerous special hospital campaigns and major system initiatives.
Before that, he was Associate Dean for External Affairs at the University of North Carolina’s School of Public Health in Chapel Hill. From 1995 to 1997, he was Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Advancement at Texas Christian University, where he directed TCU’s major gifts, planned gifts and advancement research offices.
He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Tulsa.
