Dr. Howard Eissenstat is an assistant professor of history at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. He lived in Turkey for 10 years and has studied the country for nearly two decades. His most recent op-eds discuss Erdogan's anti-government approach to dealing with the nationwide protests.
