Newswise — Georgia Tech Professional Education will offer a Project Management Introduction: Fundamentals to Successful Projects COMP 6300 course at Georgia Tech-Savannah on June 11-12, 2013. The course helps participants prepare for their certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP), as well as become a better project manager in their respective fields. Participants will learn about all ten areas and five process groups established by the Project Management Institute (PMI) - the world’s association for the project management profession.
Project management is the application of knowledge, skills and techniques to execute projects effectively and efficiently. It’s a strategic competency for organizations, enabling them to tie project results to business goals and better compete in their markets.
Course participants will earn 1.4 Continuing Education Credits (CEU). They will also receive A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), which is the industry standard for project manage instruction. PMI’s standards for project, program and portfolio management are the most widely recognized standards in the profession, and increasingly the model for project management in business and government. Project managers use these principles to establish clear expectations to avoid later project failures, identify successful components of a project plan, employ specific planning tools to establish and manage expectations, accurately track and report project progress, and identify, analyze, and prioritize strategies to ease project risks.
The course is taught by Certified Project Management Professionals (PMP) with extensive experience establishing project management and system development life-cycle methodologies in large organizations.
