Newswise — DETROIT – Betty S. Chu, M.D., MBA, has been appointed associate chief clinical officer and chief quality officer at Henry Ford Health System.
Dr. Chu had previously served as chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.
As associate chief clinical officer, Dr. Chu will support Adnan Munkarah, M.D., Henry Ford’s chief clinical officer, in aligning and enhancing the performance of clinical services across the health system.
As chief quality officer, effective immediately, Dr. Chu will provide strategic and operational leadership for Henry Ford’s quality and safety initiatives.
“Dr. Chu expertly aligns strategy with organizational vision/goals and implementing creative solutions,” Dr. Munkarah says. “A committed and engaged leader, Dr. Chu takes a collaborative approach for implementing process changes and motivates her teams behind a shared purpose.”
Dr. Chu, who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, joined Henry Ford in 2014. She received her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, and completed her residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She earned a master’s degree in business administration from the U-M Ross Business School.
Dr. Chu is the president of the Michigan State Medical Society, a one-year position that expires in spring 2019. She is also a Michigan delegate to the American Medical Association and serves on the AMA’s Council on Medical Service.
