Newswise — Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society received an impact factor of 2.649, and now ranks No. 2 in the category of ergonomics, according to Clarivate Analytics. This score reflects Human Factors’ highest impact factor since its inception in 1958. Human Factors is published by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
Impact factor measures the average number of times that a journal’s recent publications are cited annually. Impact factor is considered by some to be a reflection of a journal’s importance in its field. Human Factors has long been considered one of the most scientifically rigorous and highly-respected journals in the field and its rising impact factor is another indicator of its significance.
Pat DeLucia, Human Factors’ editor in chief, said, “The new impact factor reflects the diligence and efficiency of our editorial board to provide authors with the constructive feedback that holds their papers to the highest quality.”
Not only did Human Factors receive a notable Impact Factor ranking, but the journal also hit some significant personal milestones. DeLucia said Human Factors received 500 new submissions this year, the highest number in at least the last decade, and had a rejection rate of nearly 75%. These successes further represent Human Factors’ quality and significance to the field of human factors/ergonomics.
“Human Factors is a well-respected journal, and the numbers are reflecting that,” said Kermit Davis, president of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. “We are proud of the hard work all our editors and reviewers put into making this journal such a success.”
Human Factors is always welcome to new ideas and research and proposals for special issues. If you are interested in submitting a paper to Human Factors, you will have the opportunity to meet editor in chief, Pat DeLucia, in person at the HFES 63rd International Annual Meeting, October 28–November 1, 2019, at the Sheraton Grand Seattle in Seattle.
Human Factors is proud of this achievement and looks forward to continuing to publish outstanding research highlighting the latest findings in human factors and ergonomics research and practice.
