The color gamut was rotated counterclockwise around the average color without altering spatial composition or lightness. The impression of the color composition in the paintings was greatly altered, while the lightness, average color, and the relationship between colors remained unchanged. Around 70% of the participants preferred the original painting the most, even for paintings that they had never seen before.
