Forty 10th- and 11th-grade students from two Chicago Public Schools attended the U/STEAM event at Argonne on Nov. 2, 2023.

Argonne's hydropower and clean energy experts demonstrated how pumped storage hydropower works with a "water battery" that charges when water is pumped up and discharges when water flows, generating clean hydroelectric power.

As part of the U/STEAM event, CPS students met students in the Argonne ACT-SO High School Research Program through a poster session. The ACT-SO students were excited to present their posters and talk about their research projects.
