Newswise — Misericordia University is hosting a two-day conference on innovative assessment practices to help collegiate faculty and staff understand the goals of assessment, the myriad of ways of engaging assessment and how assessment can inform the science and daily practice of teaching.
The conference on May 17-18 in Sandy and Marlene Insalaco Hall is being coordinated by Mary Hinton, Ph.D., associate vice president of academic affairs and chief planning and diversity officer at Misericordia University.
Linda Suskie, vice president of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, will present, “Understanding and Using Assessment Results,” during a full-day workshop on May 17. Dr. Richard Arum, the luncheon keynote speaker on May 17, will address his hugely popular text, “Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on College Campus,” and its implications for higher education.
The second day of the conference will include the special workshop, “Using Technology to Support Assessment.” It will offer multiple sessions to address how technology can be utilized effectively to support and enhance assessment efforts. Bret Eynon, assistant dean of LaGuardia Community College, will also provide the session, “The Role of E-portfolios and Technology to Support and Enhance Assessment.”
