Newswise — The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) Chief Executive Officer Eileen Walker announced that Andrew Duffell, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, has been appointed to the AURP Board of Directors.
“Andrew Duffell has been actively engaged with the organization, serving on various committees and playing a critical role in planning the 2012 Spring Training Meeting,” said AURP President Kevin Byrne. “We are pleased to welcome him to the AURP Board of Directors."
Duffell is a recognized thought-leader on the strategic role of business recruitment, retention and expansion as a foundation for the Florida economy. A frequent speaker and panelist, Duffell presents a pragmatic approach to working with start-ups and Fortune 100 companies on market entry strategies.
In his current role as president and chief executive officer of the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, Duffell has brought renewed energy to the alliance between FAU and the Research Park. The opportunity for technology tenants to collaborate with students and academic staff at the FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science, the FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and the FAU College of Business has sparked a new round of growth at the Research Park.
Duffell was appointed to the Board in May at the AURP Board of Directors meeting in Washington, D.C.
“AURP provides an important voice for initiatives of university and technology-based economic development around the world through research parks, and I am eager to begin work with the Board of Directors to fulfill our mission,” said Duffell.
