Newswise — When J.K. Rowling releases the last Harry Potter novel on July 21st, many people will wonder how to keep children reading now that this extremely popular story has been told.

Linda Gambrell, president of the International Reading Association and leading researcher in the field of reading motivation, is available to explain how children become engaged readers and provide suggestions to parents whose children may be reluctant to read.

Gambrell, who has appeared on radio and television, is distinguished professor of education in the Eugene T. Moore School of Education at Clemson University.

She has authored and coauthored a number of books, most recently Best Practices in Literacy Instruction (3rd edition) NY: Guilford, 2007. Many teachers use her Motivation to Read Profile (MRP), published in 1996, to explore how students view themselves as readers and the value they attach to reading. Her work has contributed to the literacy field's understanding of the impact motivation has on reading achievement
