Newswise — Diabetes specialists from across the U.S. and beyond can now register for AADE19, the largest conference dedicated to diabetes educators as well as nurses, dietitians, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals working with people affected by diabetes, prediabetes and other cardiometabolic conditions.
The 2019 AADE Annual Conference (AADE19) features four days of education sessions divided across eight tracks that will address current trends and hot topics in healthcare, from insulin affordability to inclusive care for LGTBQ populations to stigmatizing food photos on Instagram; an exhibition hall featuring the latest in diabetes technology, management and support; networking opportunities with thousands of others healthcare professionals working in the diabetes care space; and up to 31.5 CE credits.
AADE19 keynote speakers include:
Friday - Stephen Linder, PhD, Deputy Assistant Director, UT Health School of Public Health and Faith Foreman-Hays, DrPH, MPH, BA, LVD, Deputy Assistant Director, Houston Heath Department speaking on the Cities Changing Diabetes Initiative. Houston was the only U.S. city chosen for this innovative program created to manage diabetes and prediabetes at the community level.
Saturday – Karen Kemmis, PT, DPT, MS, GCS, CDE, CEEAA, FAADE, Physical Therapist, Certified Diabetes Educator and Adjunct Professor, Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at SUNY Upstate Medical University and 2019 AADE president sharing the Association’s latest work in diabetes care and the new vision for the specialty.
Clancy Harrison, MS, RDN, FAND illustrating the hidden food insecurity epidemic happening right now in the U.S. and why food access should be a top priority in your community.
Sunday – Michael Harris, Ph.D., Professor and Chief of Pediatric Psychology, Oregon Health and Science University, Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center speaking on the psychosocial and behavior interventions that were developed to target social determinants of health in diabetes.
