Newswise — The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is awarding up to $750,000 to help enable opioid treatment programs to develop electronic health record systems. These systems will allow the opioid treatment programs to fulfill their regulatory requirements, achieve certified status and become interoperable with other patient health record systems. Overall these enhancements will enable opioid treatment programs to provide better service and behavioral health outcomes for their patients.
“Treatment programs for people with opioid addictions must be able to exchange essential health care information in order to provide their patients with comprehensive, effective care,” said SAMHSA Administrator Pamela S. Hyde. “These grants will help more treatment programs develop the state-of-the-art information systems which improve patient care and the likelihood of full recovery.”
SAMHSA will award 15 one-year grants of up to $50,000 to treatment programs across the nation. Actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds.
