Dr. Ramesh Rengan Earns Fellow Designation
SCCA Radiation Oncology Leader Ramesh Rengan, MD, PhD, is one of 26 American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) members who will receive fellow designation in September. Dr. Rengan is the medical director of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Proton Therapy Center, who treats patients with lung cancer and melanoma. His expertise focuses on the integration of novel radiation approaches with immune therapies in the treatment of cancer. Dr. Rengan is available for interviews.
Best of Breast - Breast Cancer Symposium
SCCA’s Dr. Julie Gralow will join fellow physician colleagues as a presenter September 5-6, 2019 at a symposium designed for primary care providers. Topics include multidisciplinary advances in breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship care. Conversations will be driven by academic, physician and research specialists from SCCA and partner organizations. Dr. Gralow is available for interviews. Learn more about the event here.
Swim Across America: Saturday, September 7, 2019
SCCA is proud to partner with Swim Across America, Inc. (SAA), a national organization to raise money and awareness for local cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming-related events. Seattle is one of 20 national cities where Olympic swimmers join athletes of all ages to swim in support of future patient treatment options. To date, SAA has contributed over $2.5 million to SCCA through this 11th annual event. Past swimmers have included Olympian Nate Adrian, Mary Wayte and Emily Silver. Click here to learn more.

Collaboration with commercial payor to eliminate prior authorization
Researchers with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) found that the vast majority of prior authorizations (94.8%) for imaging studies were approved instantly or after the provision of additional information.
