Irvine, CA - The University of California, Irvine Paul Merage School of Business undergraduate and master’s programs were ranked among the top 25 in the nation by the Public Accounting Report (PAR) in the 37th Annual Professor Survey-2018.
For national ranking, UCI is in the category for schools with 16 or fewer full-time accounting faculty, and was the only school in California to have the Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc) and undergraduate programs ranked in the top 25. The master’s program ranked 13th nationally, tied with the University of Colorado (CU) and Utah State University (USU) and the undergraduate accounting program ranked 25th.
Regional rankings include all schools, regardless of faculty size. In the western region, the school’s master’s program ranked 18th, an honor bestowed on only one other California school and again tied with CU and USU, while the undergraduate program ranked 24th.
“Our rise in the PAR ranking is a reflection of the caliber of our faculty and their research as well as the success that our graduates achieve in their careers,” said Eric Spangenberg, dean of The Paul Merage School of Business. “Our curricular focus on leadership in a digitally driven world includes new analytics coursework in accounting and auditing to meet the changing demands in the accounting profession and is attractive to both students and employers.”
“This recognition of our programs as being among the best in the country is a credit to our very talented Merage faculty, staff and students and their dedication to accounting education,” said Patricia Wellmeyer, clinical assistant professor of accounting and faculty director of the MPAc program. “We strive for excellence in all we do and appreciate it when prestigious rankings like the PAR acknowledge our hard work.”
