Win up to $1,000 and a Trip to New Orleans

Newswise — ST. PAUL, Minn. – The American Academy of Neurology Foundation is calling on all neurology patients and caregivers to submit a short video to its 2012 Neuro Film Festival, telling their story about why more research is needed into finding cures for brain disorders. Winners could receive up to $1,000 and a trip to New Orleans. The deadline to enter is January 31, 2012, at http://www.NeuroFilmFestival.com.

Now in its third year, the Neuro Film Festival aims to raise awareness about the need to donate money for research into the prevention, treatment and cure of brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, autism, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis. Last year, more than 100 films were submitted and more than 100,000 votes cast.

“With one in six people in the United States alone affected by a neurologic disorder, chances are you know someone who is affected…and we need your story,” said Christine E. Phelps, Deputy Executive Director of the American Academy of Neurology Foundation. “Grab your camera and make a short video telling your story about someone with a brain disorder. We need you to help us make the case for why more research through the American Academy of Neurology Foundation is needed to find cures.”

Videos should be no more than 5:00 minutes in length and should include the phrase, “Let’s put our brains together to support brain research.” Winners of the 2012 Neuro Film Festival could win up to $1,000 and a chance to attend the Neuro Film Festival in New Orleans on April 22, 2012, in conjunction with the American Academy of Neurology’s 64th Annual Meeting, the world’s largest meeting of neurologists.

A video showing how to submit to the Neuro Film Festival is available at www.NeuroFilmFestival.com, on the Neuro Film Festival’s YouTube channel and via the Neuro Film Festival page on Facebook. For a complete list of contest rules, visit http://www.NeuroFilmFestival.com.
