Tomas Paus, PhD

Tomas Paus is professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at the University of Montreal and researcher at the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center.
In the first 20 years of his scientific activities, he worked on the functional and structural organization of the human brain using various approaches, including studies of brain-injured patients, functional and structural brain imaging, and brain stimulation. .
For the past 20 years, his work has integrated population neuroscience, which combines epidemiology, neuroscience and genetics, to advance knowledge of brain health. This research draws on data acquired from a number of cohorts based in North America, South America and Europe.
The published work of Tomas Paus and his colleagues has been well received by their peers, having been cited more than 71,000 times. In 2013, Springer published Dr. Paus's book  Population Neuroscience . The researcher received the Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award, the Gold Medal of Masaryk University, is an elected member of the International Symposium of Neuropsychology and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He is an associate editor of the scientific journals Human Brain Mapping and Social Neuroscience and serves on several scientific advisory boards in Europe and North America.
