John Sawyer, PhD, is a neuropsychologist at Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans where he treats a range of cognitive and behavioral problems. He is co-director of the Center for Brain Health, which provides assessment and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, within the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute. He also serves as a consultant on legal matters involving neuropsychology and forensic psychology. He is medical director of professional staff experience in Ochsner’s Office of Professional Wellbeing, working with physicians and clinical teams struggling with burnout and job stress.

Dr. Sawyer earned a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Memphis in Tennessee. He completed an internship in neuropsychology with Memphis VA Medical Center in Tennessee, and a fellowship in neuropsychology with VA Maryland Health Care System in Baltimore.
