AMGA Dedicates Building to President and CEO Donald W. Fisher35 years of exemplary service recognized by AMGA Board of DirectorsNewswise — Alexandria, VA – AMGA Chairman Donn E. Sorensen, M.B.A., FACMPE, on behalf of the AMGA Board of Directors, yesterday evening dedicated the association’s headquarters building to President and CEO Donald W. Fisher, Ph.D., CAE, in recognition of his outstanding leadership and his contributions to advancing high performance health. The building is located at One Prince Street, Alexandria, VA.

“As AMGA’s leader for more than 35 years, Don has had a lasting impact on the organization, its members, and the larger healthcare community,” said Sorensen at the dedication ceremony. “While we anticipate many more years of achievements during Don’s tenure, the board of directors felt 35 years of exemplary leadership and service was truly a great accomplishment. And we believed there was no better way to give it the prominence and permanence it deserves than by dedicating the building to Don.”

Dr. Fisher began his tenure at AMGA in October 1980. Under his leadership, the association has become the premier voice for medical groups and integrated systems of care in the U.S., with a membership responsible for delivering healthcare services to approximately 133 million patients (one in three Americans).

Dr. Fisher commented to those gathered at the dedication: “I am truly humbled by this honor. Though this plaque has my name on it, it represents all that we have accomplished together to advance health care. We have made and will continue to make a difference.”

Dr. Fisher serves on numerous boards including WashingtonFirst Bank and has received multiple honors including being named by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Health Care. He is a longtime resident of Alexandria.
