January 10, 2018, Princeton, NJ — KOAMTAC®. Inc., a leading manufacturer of Bluetooth® barcode scanners, RFID readers, and mobile point of sale (mPOS) companions has expanded their portfolio to include a KOAMTAC Data Collector (KDC) with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.
BLE technology is supported along with Bluetooth Classic by most mobile operating systems such as Android®, iOS®, and Windows®, and is the preferred Bluetooth connection method for the Tizen™ OS. The most popular smart devices, including Smartwatches and Smart glass, can connect to the KDC280 for data collection and processing. KOAMTAC’s latest SDK includes support for Tizen OS as well as enhancements to support BLE connection to other smart devices.
The KDC280 features a generic guest profile as well as traditional HID/SPP profiles for data transmission to a smart device. When connected via the BLE profile, users will experience less power consumption, faster and longer data transmission while maintaining an uncompromised connection.

The KDC280 is a compact and rugged scanning solution with a cutting-edge 2D Imager scan engine. The KDC280 is IP65 rated and can withstand a drop of up to five (5) feet. The KDC280 comes with 8MB of onboard memory allowing for the storage of over 400,000 UPC product barcodes in data collection mode or over 60,000 records in database mode.
KOAMTAC will have the KDC280 available for demos along with a Smartwatch and Smartglass, in booths 1468 & 1474 at the National Retail Federation’s Big Show on January 14-16, 2017 held at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York.
