Newswise — Dr. Jonathan Fielding is a distinguished professor of health policy and management in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and an expert in disease trends, emerging public health threats and disease control measures.
Fielding, who served 16 years as director and health officer of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, is also founding co-director of the UCLA Center for Health Advancement where researchers model policies and programs aimed at improving health, health equity and the education and criminal justice systems.
Currently, he chairs the U.S. Community Preventive Services Task Force and co-chairs the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary’s advisory group on the 2030 Healthy People Project. Fielding is also a distinguished professor of pediatrics in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
