CRDF Global announced today that Siela Maximova, Senior Scientist and Professor of Horticulture at The Pennsylvania State University has been named the first-ever Henrietta H. Fore Women in Science Fellow. CRDF Global is an independent, nonprofit that promotes international scientific and technical collaboration. In her role as Fellow, Maximova will focus on expanding opportunities for women scientists around the world to collaborate in science and engineering. She will research opportunities and impediments to international collaboration involving women scientists, advise CRDF Global on ways to strengthen existing program opportunities, and make recommendations for possible new programs.

CRDF Global, an independent, nonprofit that promotes international scientific and technical collaboration, announced today that it has appointed Wendy Scott Keeney as Vice President, Development and Marketing. Keeney will play a vital role in strategic decision making at CRDF Global and will oversee the organization’s development, outreach and marketing and communications teams. She will report to CRDF Global President and CEO, Cathy Campbell. Keeney and her team are responsible for private and corporate fundraising, event management that includes CRDF Global’s Annual Awards Gala, marketing and communications, business development and client relationship management.

DEMO day, part of the Global Innovation through Science & Technology (GIST) Initiative, a partnership led by the U.S. Department of State and CRDF Global. D.C. DEMO Day will be at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center, 775 12th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. from 4-7:30 p.m., June 18. The 2014 GIST Entrepreneurship Journey brings entrepreneurs from Jordan, Pakistan, Kenya, Uganda, Malaysia, Indonesia and Tunisia to showcase their startups and network with investors and the tech community.

The Global Innovation through Science & Technology (GIST) Initiative) will bring 12 technology entrepreneurs from seven African, Middle Eastern, and Asian countries to Washington, D.C., and Chicago, Ill., as part of the 2014 GIST Entrepreneurship Journey. From June 9-20, innovators from Jordan, Pakistan, Kenya, Uganda, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Tunisia will showcase their innovative startups and will network with investors and the tech community. CRDF Global, an independent nonprofit that promotes international scientific and technical collaboration, announced today that Jennifer Reichert has been promoted to Associate Program Director, Capacity Building. She will be responsible for continued support of the Department of State’s Partnership for Nuclear Security (PNS) program. While at CRDF Global, she has also led support of the Department of State’s Chemical Security Engagement Program. Both of these initiatives improve awareness of best practices for security, safety and nonproliferation objectives, and foster collaboration among technical communities.
