Newswise — A gift of art for the holidays is a great idea, but an even better idea might be a gift certificate for framing, says Brett Levine, director of the UAB Visual Arts Gallery. "One of the big expenses for art is having it framed," Levine said. "Many people have posters they would like to frame or pieces of art they bought unframed." A common mistake people make is having art framed with non-archival material, which can disintegrate art with acidic gas that literally burns it, he said. "Giving a frame or certificate for framing is another way to encourage people to use their art and live with their art," Levine said.
