Staton - Greenberg Gallery is pleased to present "Bloom," a bouquet of floral images by selected photographers. The public is cordially invited to attend an opening reception on Saturday, January 11 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the gallery, 15 West Anapamu Street, in downtown Santa Barbara's cultural corridor. The exhibition will continue through March 2, 2003.

Formal studies of flowers have engaged photographers since the inception of the medium. The artistic challenge of granting permanence to such a temporal object while at the same time creating an equally beautiful likeness, has given life to countless prints by countless photographers. "Bloom" includes some classic names of photography working with floral images; Edward Steichen, Andre Kertesz, Horst, Louis Faurer and William Klein are represented in "Bloom." The exhibition will also present flower images by contemporary photographers Nathan Ian Anderson, Tom Baril, Keith Fishman and Jane Gottlieb.

Using a variety of photographic process - platinum prints, silver gelatin prints, hand-painted cibachrome photographs, carbon giclee prints - these photographers capture equally varied "moods and mannerisms" of flowers wherever they may bloom.

Staton - Greenberg Gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and by appointment. Visuals are available upon request.
