Newswise — Hannah Rudstam, senior extension associate at the Employment and Disability Institute in Cornell University’s ILR School comments on implications of the poll, “Recruiting Veterans with Disabilities: Perceptions in the Workplace.” The Cornell institute and the Society for Human Resource Management released the poll of more than 1,000 human resource professionals on Jan. 14.

“Employers see some benefits in employing veterans with disabilities, but they struggle to translate this goodwill into solid recruiting, hiring and accommodation practices. “That struggle is particularly apparent for hiring of veterans with the ‘signature’ disabilities of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. “Employers need solutions and resources that are designed for real-time, real-world actions – actions that will enable them to build effectiveness in recruiting, accommodating and coaching veterans with disabilities in their work force.”--Hannah Rudstam, senior extension associate at the Employment and Disability Institute in Cornell University’s ILR School
