White House Conference Places Issue Back in News

Alicia H. Munnell, one of the nation's leading experts on retirement issues, is available for media interviews in advance of the White House Conference on Social Security, which will be held December 8 - 9.

A former member of the President's Council of Economic Advisers, Munnell is the Drucker Professor in Management Sciences at Boston College. She also heads the Center for Retirement Research, which was established recently at Boston College to provide high quality research and data on retirement issues. Munnell is the author of The Economics of Private Pensions, Pensions for Public Employees, and The Future of Social Security, among other publications.

The White House Conference on Social Security is the culmination of a year-long dialogue on options for saving the popular entitlement. The purpose of the conference is to bring together Congress, the Administration, policy experts and the public to frame bi-partisan solutions to the system's problems.
