Scientific news flash: religion makes good health sense. In recent years, scientific evidence supporting this finding has increased rapidly, with more than three quarters of the published research on spirituality documenting the positive benefits of religious faith on physical and mental well-being.

The 8th Annual Wheaton Theology Conference, titled "Healing, Health and Spirituality: Evangelical Theology Engages Scientific Research," will bring together a group of international scholars to examine this phenomenon, April 8-10, at Wheaton College. Featured speakers will be David B. Larson, president of the National Institute for Healthcare Research; Alister McGrath, professor of theology and principal of Wycliffe Hall, Oxford University; John C. Polkinghorne, past president and now fellow of Queens' College, Cambridge; and Dallas Willard, professor of philosophy, University of Southern California.

Other speakers will include C. Stephen Evans, Calvin College; Ray Paloutzian, Westmont College; Richard Gorsuch, Fuller Theological Seminary; Margaret Kim Peterson, Eastern College; Phillip Kennesson, Milligan College; Duane Kaufmann, Goshen College; and Peter Hill, Grove City College. Additional scholars from universities across the United States will present papers related to the topic.

The 8th Annual Theology Conference at Wheaton College is sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation, the Wheaton College Graduate School Department of Bible and Theology, and InterVarsity Press.
