ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY'S GLOBAL BUSINESS CONFERENCE FEATURES MICHAEL DELL

Jamaica, N.Y. (February 22, 1999)--Are you ready to do business in the millennium? Is your corporation prepared to compete in today's global marketplace? These questions and many others will be answered at St. John's University's 34th business conference, Global Competitiveness in the 21st Century, on Weds., Apr. 7, 1999, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New York Hilton Hotel in Manhattan. Michael S. Dell, Chairman and CEO of Dell Computer Corporation, will be the keynote speaker at the event, which is co-sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and Crain's New York Business.

"As we enter a new era, St. John's University is partnering with some of the nation's largest corporations to share and gain insights into business practices for today and the future," said Peter Tobin, Dean of St. John's University's College of Business Administration. "This conference affords our faculty and students the opportunity to combine their talents with some of the most influential business corporations."

The event is expected to draw more than 400 participants from the New York business and academic communities. In addition to the keynote address by Michael Dell, the program will consist of panel discussions on today's entrepreneurs, global technologies and the importance of strategic alliances. A special invitation has been extended to St. John's students and alumni.

Michael S. Dell founded Dell Computer Corporation in 1984 with $1,000 and the idea of selling custom-built PCs directly to end users. He attended The University of Texas at Austin. Today his company has 20,800 employees, sales of $15.2 billion, and has climbed to No. 125 of the Fortune 500 list of the largest American companies with customers in more than 170 countries.

Founded in 1870 by the Vincentian community, St. John's University has seven schools and colleges. It offers associate, baccalaureate, master's, doctoral and professional degrees.
